Metropolitan Oakland Intl Airport Hotels. The maids, however, could use a lesson or two on proper room service. The hotel itself is wonderful, the amenities are great, the morning breakfast and evening snacks are a great thing to offer, and the front desk staff was very accommodating and welcoming. We did not demand that sheets and towels be washed daily. We always left the towels that we did use hanging, as requested on a welcome card, to help conserve water. That request was completely ignored and we were never left one. We were short one towel and for TWO DAYS IN A ROW, I left a note, asking them to please leave an extra towel. In the following days, we put the "do not disturb" sign out while we were at breakfast so that we could come back to the room to get ready before heading out for the day. We decided to take a walk until they were finished. They acted as if we were in their way and would not let us get ready to leave. They had the radio on full blast to some Spanish speaking only station. We went to breakfast and upon returning to the room to pack up and get ready to be off for the day, found the maids in the room. If I had anything negative to say, it would be about the maids. I like the central location, with restaurants and other businesses nearby. There is something for everyone! It's nice that there are complementary evening snacks and drinks offered as well. The room was very clean, and the front desk staff is very courteous and always helpful! The daily breakfast is very tasty, and has a great variety, no matter your tastes or preferences. I recently stayed here for the second time. Next time feel free to indulge in a cookie, or an apple, or both! Best, Ryan Aldridge Front Office Manager THE ZEN HOTEL I truly hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you again in the near future and hope that our front desk staff is able to duplicate the warm hospitality that you have graciously highlighted above. A stop by Tesla on the way to Green Gulch, with liquid nitrogen ice cream in hand, is indeed a great recommendation for a Sunday well spent. I would also like to thank you for highlighting our central location to all of the nearby sights and available activities. We have found that the extra touches you mentioned, from the L’Occitane toiletries to the fresh fruit & veggie smoothies and pillow-top mattresses, are just a few of the things that set us apart from the chain hotels in Palo Alto. I am very happy to see that you appreciated our distinct Zen style, which is a fusion of minimalist design and all of the modern comforts and amenities that you would expect in a luxury hotel. Here's to satori.ĭear Owen G, Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments. I suppose you could say this should be expected at an high end boutique hotel, but such welcome is always appreciated (I took an apple instead). I had arrived late with no reservation, but the desk received me graciously and magnanimously - offering me cookies after checking in. And, if you are up for a real zen experience - and it is a Sunday morning - zip up to Marin to Green Gulch's public program for meditation instruction, talk, tea and lunch. Near Stanford University campus, a fantastic Whole Foods (where they make liquid nitrogen made ice cream), and just across the street is a Tesla showroom where you can investigate the inner zen-like simplicity of a Tesla chassis. You can just feel the ivy-league and tech atmosphere. Pleasant breakfast room in the morning with amenities like fresh made fruit smoothies. Bath robes, special soaps, and really nice and comfy mattress etc.I slept very well. Rooms had a nice, tidy proportion to them with all the luxury you might expect from upper end boutique. While not exactly a zendo for meditation (there is a real one nearby in the Los Altos hills), the style of this hotel mimics the design elements of a traditional Japanese temple for meditation - simplicity and order.
